Sri Lanka’s women Esports athletes step-up at Gamer.LK’s Women’s Cyber Games

Gamer.LK, the premier Esports Company in Sri Lanka has announced the fourth edition of its annual Women’s Cyber Games (WCG). The event was conceptualised and executed by Gamer.LK is dedicated to the female Esports athletes in Sri Lanka with the aim of empowering them to excel in Esports.

This year’s tournament will be an online event, allowing participants to play remotely. Female gamers from many leading corporates, schools and all social backgrounds take part in the event each year.

Since 2015, Gamer.LK has conducted activities dedicated to women gamers at its major tournaments which have seen an increasing number of participants. In 2019, Gamer.LK began the Women’s Cyber Games with the intention of providing a dedicated platform for female gamers to showcase their skills. Since then, it has now grown to be one of the largest female-only sporting events in the country.

Gamer.LK has consistently promoted more female representation in the field of Esports, where women’s participation is limited only due to conservative social norms which are now increasingly being corrected globally. Sri Lanka’s National Esports athletes are set to take the global stage at events such as the 19th Asian Games, Esports World Championship, Commonwealth Esports Championship, Global Esports Games and many more. South Asia’s first Women’s National Esports team came from Sri Lanka, setting the benchmark for women’s participation in Esports in the region.

The tournament has the following titles that gamers are able to register: PUBG Mobile (solo battleroyale), Free Fire (mobile solo battleroyale), Call of Duty Mobile (solo battleroyale), Valorant (PC solo free-for-all), Valorant (PC team 5v5), Mobile Legends (team 5v5), Clash Royale (mobile solo), League of Legends (PC solo), Dota 2 (PC solo), Real Cricket (mobile solo), Mario Kart Tour (mobile solo), Counter Strike Global Offensive (PC solo) and Call of Duty 4 (PC solo free-for-all).
