Sri Lanka’s budding badminton talents yesterday departed for Nepal as they embarked on their journey to the highly anticipated Badminton Asia South Asia (Under-17 and Under-15) Regional Junior Championships 2023. The championship, organised by Badminton Asia and hosted by the Nepal Badminton Association, is slated to take place from August 18 to 22 at the National Sports Council in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu.
The Sri Lankan Team, comprising a mix of seasoned and emerging players, left their homeland with a sense of purpose, eager to make their mark on the regional stage. The team’s roster included RanithmaLiyanage, Nethmi Amaya Ratnayake, SithuliRanasinghe, RanumiSuhasnie Manage, SenuthSethmithaPerera, KenethAruggoda, ThidasaIrushikaWeragoda, and HirukaSahanmith. Guiding them through the competition is their dedicated Coach, HasithaChanaka.
Adding an important touch of support and care to the team is Lady Chaperone Dhammika Withanage.
The young athletes exuded a mixture of excitement and focus as they set off for Kathmandu, their dreams of triumph on the court burning brightly in their eyes. The Badminton Asia South Asia Junior Championships 2023 promise an exhilarating display of youthful vigour, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit, as teams from across the region gather to showcase their talents.
As they departed for Kathmandu, the Sri Lankan team carries with them the hopes and aspirations of a nation, ready to give their all in pursuit of victory and recognition.
