Asian Rugby (AR) selected Sri Lanka as the hosting country for the third leg of the Asian Sevens Series from 2019-2021. Sri Lanka will host the third leg, the Racecourse being the most likely event venue for the next three years in tandem.
Meanwhile South Korea too grabbed their position by hosting the first leg, which will be held at the Namdong Stadium in Incheon. Chine makes an entry by hosting the second leg in Huizhou. Surprisingly the Asian Rugby powerhouse Hong Kong will not host the Asian Sevens series till 2021.
The top three teams each year in this event will secure the berth for the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens in the following year as an emerging team. Already Japan and Hong Kong play in this group, which consists of 12 teams around the globe.
