Sri Lanka turn tables on host nation to clinch Women’s Under-19 Tri-Nation title

The champion Women’s Sri Lanka Under-19 team that won the Women’s Under-19 title in Bangladesh

Sri Lanka Under-19 women’s cricketers led by Vishmi Gunaratne won the Women’s Under-19 Tri-Nation T20 tournament when they beat host nation Bangladesh by 36 runs in the final played at Cox’s Bazar yesterday.

The win was sweet revenge for Sri Lanka who had lost both matches in the league segment to Bangladesh.

Match winners for Sri Lanka were Nethmi Senaratne (57 off 66 balls, 8 fours) and Dewmi Wijeratne (49 off 42 balls, 2 fours, 4 sixes and 3/13).

Sri Lanka scored 148-3 off their 20 overs with openers Nethmi and Dewmi laying the foundation with a partnership of 104 off 86 balls.

Bangladesh was restricted to a score of 112-8.

Dewmi was made the Player of the Final.

The Sri Lanka Women’s Under-19 team was coached by renowned Coach Mahesh Weerasinghe.

Pakistan Women were the third team to participate.
