Senuja Wekunagoda and Rehan Peiris during their 61-run stand for Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka took the three-match Under-17 ODI series against Bangladesh 1-0 when they beat the tourists by 7 wickets in the third and final match played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The first match ended in a no-result and the second was abandoned without a ball bowled due to rain.
In the third and final match, Bangladesh winning the toss and batting first were bowled out for 77 in 17 overs with Rasith Nimsara (3/27) and Rayan Gregory (3/2) picking up three wickets apiece and Kithma Vidanapathirana (2/13).
Ahsanul Haque (29) and Imran Hosain (20) were Bangladesh’s principal scorers.
Sri Lanka lost their first two wickets without a run on the board, but a 61-run stand of 83 balls between Rehan Peiris (29) and Senuja Wekunagoda (30*) saw them get over the line.
The two teams will now play a two-match three-day game commencing tomorrow at Galle.
