Viren Nettasinghe, Sri Lanka’s sole hope in the badminton competition at the 19th Asian Games, will embark on his quest for continental honours in Hangzhou, China from 2 October.
The much-anticipated badminton competition which brings the world’s top stars together at the Binjiang Gymnasium in Hangzhou, will run until 7 October, promising a thrilling showcase of talent from across Asia.
Nettasinghe, currently ranked 83rd in the global badminton singles rankings, comes into the Asian Games fresh from a remarkable silver medal victory in the men’s singles category at the XPORA Indonesia International Challenge, held in Medan, Indonesia earlier this month.
Accompanying Nettasinghe on this important journey is his trusted Coach and Manager Roshan Dhammika, and the duo hopes to carry the hopes and aspirations of a nation.
As the competition heats up in Hangzhou, all eyes are on the 20-year-old Nettasinghe as he strives to showcase his exceptional skills and unwavering determination on the courts of the 19th Asian Games Badminton Championship when he takes on the best of the continent.
