Sri Lankan netballers meet Prime Minister

  • Prior to departure for Asian Netball Championship in India

The Sri Lanka team for the Asian Netball Championship in India met Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at her office at Flower Road prior to their departure.

The Prime Minister, who is also the Sports Minister, engaged in a friendly discussion with the players of the team and wished them luck in winning the tournament.

For the first time, 14 Asian countries will participate in the championship. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 17 October at 3 p.m. at Bangalore where the tournament will be held from 18-27 October.

Dulangi Vannithilaka will lead Sri Lanka with Deepi Dhana Prasadi as Coach, Padmini Horanage as Manager, Dr. Lal Ekanayake as Team Doctor, and Manoj Darshana as Convenor. Asian Netball Association President Lakshmi Victoria will also accompany the team.

The Sri Lanka netball squad: Captain Dulangi Vannithilaka, Hasita Mendis, Rashmi Divyanjali, Gayangali Amarawansa, Thishala Algama, Shanika Perera, Gayani Dissanayake, Gayatri Kaushalya, Suseema Bandara, Sachini Rodrigo, Malmi Hettiarachi, Chalini Neesha.
