St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota and Joseph Vaz College, Wennapuwa were declared joint winners of the Singer Cup Under 15 Division 1 Schools Cricket tournament, which concluded at the Thurstan College grounds in Colombo recently.

The Antonians batted first and scored 166 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 45 overs before deciding to declare. Skipper Lahiru Abeysinghe struck a beautiful 63 while Mohammed Aaqil crafted an elegant knock of 40 runs which helped the Antonians put up a respectable score.

Seth Ransitha (3) and Menusha Perera (2) were among the wickets.

In reply, the lads from Wennappuwa made 35 for 3 in 28 overs before bad light brought an early halt to play. Last year, Antonian Under 13 Skipper Galapitage was unplayable, taking two wickets.

The Antonians are coached by Dimuthu Weerasinghe while Amila Sampath guided Joseph Vaz.
