St. Peter’s and Walala Central win

St. Peter’s College and Walala Central won the overall Boy’s and Girl’s championship, respectively, at the Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletics Championship 2019 which concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium recently.

Chamod Yodasinghe (St. Mary’s, Kegalle) and Shelinda Jansen (Gateway) were adjudged the best athletes of the three-day championship. Walala Central girls were in top form, winning majority of the medals. Imasha Hasanthi broke her own record in the Under-18 javelin throw with a super effort of 46.97 metres.

Girls from Central Hills scored a massive 304 points while Holy Cross College, Gampaha were runners-up with 100 points. St. Peter’s won the Boy’s event with 171 points followed by St. Benedict’s with 95 points were runners-up.
