In a ferociously fast paced game, St. Peter’s College defeated Royal College (10 - 5) to emerge as champs of the Dialog Schools Rugby U19 Elite 7s 2024 yesterday. Here St. Peter’s College Captain Dulaj Navodya, receiving the Cup Champion Trophy from Dialog Axiata Vice President, Brand and Media Harsha Samaranayake and Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association President Kamal Ariyasinghe. St. Peter’s College proved their class when they beat Royal College 10/5 in the Inter Schools Rugby Sevens 2024 final at the Royal Sports complex yesterday.
At the short breather it was the winners who led 10/5. All scoring was done in the initial half. Royal came yards closer to score their second try but were 45m short when their player was pushed to touch.
Referee was Raveen Alexander.
This was St. Peter’s College second Sevens win for this year, securing the Zahira Sevens win.
Vidyartha accounted for the Plate while Ananda took away the Bowl while Sri Piyarathne won the Shield encounter. Nearly 10 leading schools kept away from this tournament citing injuries and ordinary level examinations.
