Strong basketball squad picked for SABA Championship

Sri Lanka Navy’s Clinton Stallone will captain Sri Lanka in the upcoming SABA Championship in Dhaka

The selection panel of Sri Lanka Basketball Federation (SLBF) has put out a strong 15-member pool for the upcoming South Asia Basketball Association (SABA) Championship in Dhaka – Bangladesh.

The pool is a good mixture of youth and experience and should fare well in the SABA Championship. Clinton Stallone of the Sri Lanka Navy will captain the side. The squad includes two schoolboys in Yoganathan Simron from Angel International School – Jaffna and Shehan Fernando of St. Joseph’s College – Colombo.

A total of 60 players attended trials before the final pool was picked.

The team: Yogananthan Simron, Asanka Mahesh Rajakaruna, Dasun Nilantha Mendis, Praneeth Udumalagala, Nimesh Fernando, Sasindu Dilshan Gajanayake, Shehan Fernando, Clinton Stallone, Thimothi Nithushan, Shehan Udayanga Perera, Gayan de Croos, Arnold Brent, Pawan Gamage, Chanuka Shehan Fernando and Rukshan Athapaththu.
