The Foundation of Goodness in a letter to the President of MCC Lord King of Lothbury has thanked the MCC for their invaluable support in establishing a Sri Sumangala MCC Lord’s Cricket Ground in 2007, post tsunami.

Foundation of Goodness Founder/Chief Trustee Kushil Gunasekera states in the letter: “Because of your exceptional generosity, we were able to create a high quality training facility free of charge for talented young cricketers at Hikkaduwa Sri Sumangala College who would otherwise, have had no access to such opportunities and facilities for training. This venue that MCC helped to build has created a historic, milestone achievement in Sri Lankan school history and debated that it could also be a global record which we are delighted to share.

“We are proud to announce that the Sri Sumangala U19 cricket team after only 18 years of cricket has achieved the phenomenal feat of winning 16 consecutive matches outright, including the island wide championship in their Division 3 two-day tournament as well as the one-day competition, making it a grand double, and thereby being promoted to Division 2 in the current year which is a significant benchmark in the school cricket arena.”

“We would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude for MCC in believing in the potential of our young cricketers, which has not gone waste, as we are now harvesting the fruits of that early investment.”
