Sudath Sampath heads new Rugby Selections Committee

The new set of National Rugby Selections Committee headed by former Isipathana, Police SC and Kandy SC player and sevens specialist, Sudath Sampath was selected by the Ministry of Sports recommended by the Stabilisation committee.

The other members in the new selection committee are former Trinity rugby Lion, CH and FC and CR and FC player Duminda de Silva, Havies player Alex Nishantha Chanaka, Trinity rugby Lion Rajiv Ganapathy and former Royalist C.P. Abeygoonawardena.

The first job of the newly appointed committee is to submit 12 players plus three officials for the Asian Games 2023 which will take place in China during September 2023 and the extended deadline is 15 July approved by the organisers after the National Olympic Committee (NOC) request.

Before the Asian Games 2023 the sevens outfit (Men’s) will participate at the Asia Rugby First leg in South Korea during Aug 2023. The second leg of the tournament will take place in Thailand during Sept 2023.
