TAFA welcomes ManCity Football club coaches to Sri Lanka

The Thaabit Ahmed Football Academy (TAFA) welcomed renowned ManCity Football club coaches on 3 December 2019 as they visited Sri Lanka’s elite schools, offering training and academic workshops.

Representing ManCity, Abu Dhabi – the world-class coaches, Jonny Marsh, Patrick Pritchard and Lewis Barlow were greeted by three TAFA students and the academy’s coaches at the Shangri-La, Colombo. 

During their time in Sri Lanka, the coaches conducted special training sessions for all the TAFA teams at the Uni Sports Centre.

The coaches also conducted a private football session for 30 St. Thomas’ Preparatory students at the CR & FC grounds, as well as a nutritional workshop for 60 Stafford International School (SIS) children from Form 1 and 2, followed by a training session with their under 14 football team.

ManCity, Abu Dhabi Coach Jonny Marsh commented, “We’ve had a fantastic time in Sri Lanka and only wish we had more time to see more of what this beautiful country has to offer. TAFA have been fantastic hosts, we couldn’t have asked for more and we look forward to working with them in Abu Dhabi at the ManCity Abu Dhabi Camp and Cup in March 2020.”

The coaches rounded up their football tour by hosting TAFA’s Girls’ Only Group during their afternoon training session.

TAFA Coaching Founder Thaabit Ahmed commented, “It was a pleasure and an honour to welcome the ManCity coaches to Sri Lanka. All of the kids who had the opportunity to meet and learn from them received an invaluable experience, as well as had the opportunity to socialise with these world renowned coaches.” 

TAFA’s under 10 and 12 teams are scheduled to begin touring Abu Dhabi in March for TAFA’s third consecutive year. Concluding, Ahmed said, “The coaches were also able to experience first-hand the fantastic training Trooper Elite, under TAFA has been conducting at the Train Yard, One Galle Face, for the last few weeks. It was great to give the TAFA kids a taste of what the ManCity Abu Dhabi Camp will offer.”

TAFA Coaching and its sub-brands work closely with Colombo’s elite schools such as Stafford International School and St. Thomas’ Preparatory providing Physical Education lessons and elite football coaching for its budding young players. 

TAFA was founded in 2009 by Thaabit Ahmed, to offer coaching for young athletes. Based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as a privately run sports academy, TAFA provides training in both Colombo and Galle. The addition of Trooper Rugby as well as their youth fitness sub brand – Trooper Elite, coincided with the start of the Football Club’s 11th season.
