Ted Muttiah to be Chief Guest in second leg

75th Bradby Shield

Former Royal rugby team skipper and Sri Lanka Centre, Ted Muttiah, will be the chief guest for the second leg of the 75th Bradby Shield Encounter which will take place on June 15 at the Royal Sports Complex.

Muttiah played for Royal from 1980-1982. In 1981 he was the instrumental to Royal’s success as they won 10 out of 11 games, only losing out to Trinity.

Under Ted’s leadership Royal beat Wesley, Ananda, St Anthony’s, Dharmaraja, St Peter’s, St Joseph’s and Vidyartha, losing out only to Isipathana, St Thomas and two Bradby Shields. He played for Kandy SC in knockout rugby, and later on CR& FC from 1983. He toured with the national XV’s team for the 1984 Rugby Asiad which took place in Japan.

He is a major promoter of rugby in the country and employed as a Chief Commercial Officer at SAGT.
