Teejay, Abans vie for MCA “E” division 25- Over League trophy tomorrow

Teejay Lanka Plc will seek sweet revenge when they confront the unbeaten, Abans Group once again, in the 21st David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored, “DPGC” Challenge Trophy – MCA “E” division

25- Over League Tournament 2024, on pre Independence Day, Saturday, 3 February at the MCA Grounds, commences at 10 a.m.

The finalists played alongside in Group “B” in the league stage and Abans Group beat Teejay Lanka by 36 runs on 7 January at Darley Road.

Abans Group finished the league unbeaten with 5 wins on the trot, while Teejay Lanka finished 3rd in the Group with 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 No Result.

But, Abans Group must approach the final courteously, as Teejay Lanka came up with a much improved performance in the knock-out stage, by eliminating two fancied teams, the unbeaten group “C” winner, Ceylinco General Insurance and; the 2nd placed team in Group “A”, Expolanka Holdings.

The League Stage: Beat PABC Bank by 30 runs;  Teejay Lanka by 36 runs; George Steuart Health by 78 runs; LOLC by 10 wickets and HSBC by 63 runs.

The Knock-out Stage: Beat Brandix Essentials by 37 runs in the quarter finals and beat George Steuart Health by 7 wickets in the semi finals.

The League Stage : Beat LOLC by 5 wickets ; No Result vs George Steuart Health, lost to Abans Group by 36 runs ; beat PABC Bank by 4 wickets and beat HSBC by 67 runs.

Knock –out Stage: Beat Ceylinco General Insurance by 8 runs in the quarter finals and; beat Expolanka Holdings by 4 wickets in the semi finals.
