Testing time for Kandy in Colombo heat

Sailors stormed back in the later half with number of tries but it was too late as they ran out of time at home losing out to the defending champions, Kandy SC 35/30 at Welisara last weekend.

Kandy SC feeling the Colombo heat and humidity for the second time this season won in the end through 5 tries, 2 conversions and 2 penalties to 30 points of the Sailors which were collected through 3 tries, 3 conversions and 3 penalties.

Up Country clubs tries were scored through Buddima Piyaratne (2 tries), Bawantha Udangamuwa, Jason Dissanayake and Roshan Weeraratne with Tharinda Ratwatte doing the kicking duties.

Navy tries were scored by Nirosh Perera, Janith Laksara and Charith Janith with former Kingswoodian, Chathura Seneviratne doing the kicking duties.

Meanwhile Police SC and Army SC encounter was postponed to a later date.

This Inter-Club rugby tournament is continued without a commercial partner where Sri Lanka Rugby put the rules straight for any sponsors which is a good move but going forward many sponsors have shown interest in locking forward with them.
