The Darlington Social Cricket Club, hailing from Western Australia, embarked on a vibrant 14-day Cricket and Cultural Tour across the scenic landscapes of Sri Lanka, spanning from 4 May to 17 May. Comprising 22 club members alongside their families, totalling 51 individuals, the group delved into a whirlwind of cricket matches and cultural explorations.
Their journey took them through the bustling streets of Colombo, the ancient wonders of Sigiriya, the serene shores of Passikudah, and the cultural heartland of Kandy. Alongside immersing themselves in Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, the team engaged in spirited cricket matches with local veterans at key venues.
Their itinerary included matches at renowned cricket grounds such as the Mercantile Cricket Association Grounds in Colombo, Boyagane Army Cricket Ground in Kurunegala, KSV Cricket Ground in Batticaloa, and the iconic Asgiriya Cricket Grounds.
Facilitating their seamless experience was Connaissance De Ceylan Ltd., the ground handling agent for this memorable visit. Darlington Social Cricket Club Veteran Glen Farret was the tour leader coordinating the visit / matches for the group. This tour not only showcased the camaraderie of sports but also fostered cultural exchange and friendship between Australia and Sri Lanka.
