Thewmika leads SL to U-19 Asia Cup in UAE

Experienced off-spinner from Thurstan College Vihas Thewmika, who has played in three List A matches, will lead a strong Sri Lanka team to the 11th Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup limited overs tournament in the UAE from 29 November to 8 December.

Wicket-keeper/batsman Sharujan Shanmuganathan from St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena, who has appeared in three first-class matches for Nugegoda SWC, is Vice-Captain.

Sri Lanka, who are in Group B with Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal, play their opening match against Nepal at Sharjah on 29 November. It will be followed by matches against Afghanistan in Sharjah on 1 December and against defending champions Bangladesh in Dubai on 3 December.

Group A comprises India, Japan, Pakistan, and the UAE.

Semi-finals are scheduled for 6 December and the final for 8 December.
