Thivain to lead Royal at Rugby

Thivain Perera will lead the Royal rugby outfit for the year 2024 when they kick off the season on 15 June against Kingswood College in Kandy in a league encounter.

Thivain will have Yehan Weerasooriya and Buwaneka Senanayake as his two co-vice captains of the Reid Avenue outfit. Royal last won the Schools League under Thulaib Hassen in 2019.

Royal will be once again coached by Dushantha Lewke with Radhika Hettiarachchi looking after the three-quarter line.

Royal will play Kingswood, Vidyartha, Zahira all three away and at home, they lock horns with Thurstan, Wesley, St Joseph’s, St Peter’s and St Thomas first leg encounter. Trinity College too, will play at Royal Sports Complex for the second leg away at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekelle. Last year, though Trinity won the first leg Royal came back strongly to safe keep the Bradby Shield at Reid Avenue.
