S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia held the upper hand at the end of the first day of the inaugural school’s cricket fixture played for the Ranjith Fernando-Kumar Boralessa Trophy at Mt. Lavinia yesterday.

Choosing to bat first, St. Benedict’s were dismissed for 179, with Janindu Nandasena making a top score of 73 and Aaron de Silva taking 3/25.

S. Thomas’ made a strong reply closing on 109-2, with Dineth Goonewardene unbeaten on 55.

The match continues on its second and last day today.
