The Thomians opened scoring at their home ground in Mount Lavinia through Shenok Perera, which was beautifully converted by Bandula Weerasinghe for an early 7/0 lead. Runeru put over a penalty for the visitors to reduce the halftime deficit to 4 points.

After the turnaround a nearly 50 meter penalty to go with another 35 meters out were taken by Ruberu to give Isipathan a 9/7 lead. Nippy scrum half Sakith Perera then edged the Thomians ahead once more with a superb try.
