Thomians win Under-19 hockey title

S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia beat Trinity College in the Under-19 segment while the Trinity juniors won their Under-15 encounter against the Thomians at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy recently.

In the Under-15 encounter, Trinity won 2-0 and in the Under-19 encounter the Thomians won 2-0. S. Thomas’ College was awarded the Warden Neville de Alwis Memorial Shield which was contested for the 14th time this year. The Under-15 winners Trinity College were awarded the Sahayam Trophy played for the fourth year.

The Chief Guest was Prasad Jinadasa, who represented Trinity in hockey from the Under-13 to the Under-19 level and captained the Under-17 and Under-19 teams, won his colours in 1984 and was presented with a hockey lion in 1985. He is also a Sri Lankan schools colours winner.
