DIMO hosted the annual Mercedes-Benz Golf Tournament 2021 at Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort and Spa with the participation of more than 90 golfers.
Rajeev Rajapakse, Anel De Silva and Fran De Mel qualified to participate in this year’s Mercedes Trophy World Final at Germany which will take place by end October 2021.They were selected according to the tournament rules and regulations.
Rajeev Rajapakse was in sparkling form from tee off in hole 1 showing top class constancy. He accounted for the Handicap A pushing Shiran Fernando and Sachin de Silva to second and third places respectively. Handicap B was won by Nirthaj Seelanatha with Rohitha Silva and Anel De Silva taking second and third positions. Iftikar Ahamed won the Handicap C with Sarath Liyanage and Saneth Gamage being placed at number two and number three in the same segment.
Veteran golfer, Fran de Mel won the Handicap D and Ladies event with Ruvani Desinghe and youngster, Kaya Daluwatte being placed at number two and number three positions.
Senior segment was accounted by Mohan De Silva while another top class golfer, Pawan Tejwani won the nearest to the PIN while Longest Drive was won by Pravina Dunuwila.
