With this Super Round initiated by SLR and its Chairman of the Tournament Organising Committee, Rizly Ilyas the former Peterite and Petersons SC player the tournament had opened out to three teams to grab the trophy this year around. Havelock SC, table leaders and Defending champions, Kandy SC along with third placed CH & FC will be out for the kill in their remainder of the two games.
Rizly speaking to Daily FT said, “We are happy that the game has reached great heights. With the introduction of the ‘Super Round’ competition, three teams will be in the fray vying for the top slot and the game has taken a new dimension. Also, getting the foreign referees to blow the key matches has also made a great impact on the game’s standards with crowd pull out unlike in the past few years. We haven’t forgotten our local lads who have also contributed as referees, but they failed to maintain consistency and inspire confidence in controlling the game,” said Rizly Illyas, the SLR Tournament Committee Chairman.
