On the opening day Indonesia’s Randy Bintang delivered a fantastic performance, carding an impressive 5-under-par 65 to secure the lead from the top 120 amateurs representing 45 countries.

Randy who was in sparkling form saw him finish the day with a comfortable cushion over the chasing golfers from the 44 countries. One from Hong Kong/China and the other a joint effort from Japan’s T. Moto and R. Nakano – all posted scores of 4-under-par.

Algama and Pushpika will need to bounce back strongly in the next two days in order to secure a spot in the top 60 and qualify for the final two rounds. Defending champion Jasper Stubbs from Australia played a 2 over round 72.

With the cut line set at around 7 over par the Sri Lankans will have to really put a strong performances on the next 2 days to keep their hopes alive.
