The CR and FC Centenary Rugby Sevens 2023 kicked off yesterday at Longdon Place with the schools Under 20 games worked off on the initial day in front of a packed and appreciative crowd.
Day 1 saw some fantastic sevens rugby displayed by the Schools Under 20 outfits where Royal, St. Peter’s, Trinity and St. Joseph’s all moving forward for the Cup semi-finals on 2 April while D.S., Zahira, Isipathana and Kingswood will play in the Plate semi-finals with Wesley, Piliyandala Central, Vidyartha and S. Thomas will feature in the Bowl segment on the final day.
Day 2 (1 April) games will kick off at 9 a.m. with Kandy SC locking horns with the Army SC in the first Men’s club game. Today both Men’s (Clubs) and Women’s (Clubs) will be worked off with a total number of eight clubs and six Women’s teams featuring today. There will be one team each from Australia and Qatar playing in the Women’s segment.
All semi-finals and final in Cup, Plate and Bowl segments will be worked off on 2 April. All outstation teams and overseas teams are given free accommodation by the organisers of the event CR and FC.
