The third annual football encounter between Royal College, Colombo and Trinity College, Kandy will be held today from 3:30 p.m. onwards at the Royal College Sports Complex, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7.

A well-balanced Royal College team will take on the defending champions Trinity College, with both schools having performed creditably this season.

Over the years, the game has gained greater popularity amongst the students of both colleges and will no doubt bring hopes of evolving into a glamorous social event in subsequent years.

Both teams are understood to have practiced hard for this encounter and are determined to approach the game in a very positive manner.

This encounter was conceived by former Football Captain of Royal College (2015) Tahiru Gunasekara, and the prestigious trophy was donated by former Head Prefect of Royal College Dammika Gunsekara. Professor Nihal Hewage from the J. R. Jayawardene Centre meanwhile assisted in getting the necessary approvals from the J. R. Jayawardene Centre.

The Royal College Union Football Advisory and Management Committee (FAMC) organised this year’s encounter. The chief guest will be Dr. Sayuru Samarasundara, Chairman State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation of Sri Lanka.

The FAMC expects all the present and past students of both colleges, as well as parents and football lovers to come witness this event.
