Canon de Seram Trophy Encounter

Trinity College will host their brother school, S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia today in their Canon de Seram Trophy Under 19 Rugby Encounter at their Pallekelle Rugby Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled at 4:15 p.m.

The Canon R.S. De Saram Trophy encounters started between the two brother schools back in 1978. Out of the 40 encounters, Trinity have won 23 matches while the Thomians have secured the trophy on 17 occasions. 

The series of matches between these two schools started way back in 1955. Out of the 65 games played so far, Trinity leads the tally with 37 to the Thomians’ 26 while two of them have ended in a tie while there was no game played in 1971.

Highest score in the series was recorded in 2011 under Murad Ramzeen’s Trinity outfit thrashed the Thomians 75/6. Tyrrell’s 1987 Triniity outfit too went past half a century (52) to nil win at Longdon Place. Meanwhile Thomians’ best was in 2010 under Rajindera Gunasekera beating the trinity outfit 40/30 at Pallekelle.

Trinity is led by scrum half Tehan Karunanayake with Harsha Smarasinghe, Rahul Danaraj, Koojana Kulatunge, Tevin Karunanayake are the players to watch out for today. Meanwhile Thomians are led by Revanka Abeywardena with Mohamed Ishak, B. Siyambalapitiya, A. Cader and A. Rekawa, some top class players from the Mount Lavinia outfit.
