Trinity U16 champions

Trinity College was in prime form at the Central Province Rugby Football Union (CPRFU) organised Under-16 ten-a-side Invitational rugby tournament 2023 when they edged out Isipathana College 12/7 in the Cup final in Pallekele yesterday.

At the short breather it was Isipathana who led 7/0.

Both teams dished out quality rugby with the ball handling was top class. Trinity coming into the final did a few but their defence was rock solid till the 10th minute. While they were on attack the Green Shirts turned over the ball and scored under the posts covering nearly 70 meters on stroke of half time to take the lead 7/0.

After the turn around Trinity who never gave up fought back and scored two tries to seal the game and win in this initial tournament on offer by CPRFU. Trinity was led by Udan Wijekoon with Priyantha Gunaratne their Head Coach.

Meanwhile Zahira accounted for the Plate beating Thomians 27/10 while the Bowl encounter was won by Wesley College beating D.S. 12/5.

In another hometown battle Sylvester's College beat Rajans 7/5 to win the Shield encounter.

Man of the final was Nisala Perera of Trinity College

This event was organised by CPRFU with Sri Lanka Rugby supporting and Nippon Paint as the title sponsor.
