Athletics Association of Sri Lanka has submitted 22 players for Commonwealth Games 2022 in UK and Asian Games which will take place later this year in China. The yard stick of selections was made at the 100th National Athletics meet which took place recently. Some top class athletes such as Yupun Abeykoon, Sumedha Ranasinghe, Ushan Thiwanka. Kalinga Kumarage, Sarangi Silva, Gayanthika Abeyratne and Nilani Ratnayake all qualified by achieving the minimum standards set up by Commonwealth Games Committee. Majority of the Commonwealth Games players will take place in the Asian Games in China later this year.
