Two workshops to prepare resumption of schools sevens rugby

A timely appointment by Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa with an Rugby Advisory Committee and immediate action with work has paved the way for the schools rugby sevens to kick off next month. 

Accordingly, schools from the Western Province (24), Central Province (8), North Western Province (8), Sabaragamuwa Province (8) and Southern Province (8) that will participate at the Inter-Schools Provincial Rugby Sevens had one workshop on 26 November and the other one today.

These workshops will be done by the Ministry of Sports in conjunction with Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) will organise two online workshops in preparation for the upcoming school’s rugby sevens competitions later this year.

The workshop is focused on ‘Post-COVID getting back to rugby with precautions’. The first workshop was conducted by Institute of Sports Medicine Director General Dr. Lal Ekanayake attached to the Ministry of Sports on 26 November while the second day’s workshop will be conducted by World Rugby Educator and Chairman Dilroy Fernando covering the ‘World Rugby focus on areas on sevens rugby’ today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (SJ)
