UAE Rugby Federation referee Jaco to officiate SL vs Malaysia

The Asia Rugby Emirates Men’s Championship Playoff 2025 between Sri Lanka and Malaysia will kick off on 19 April at the Racecourse Ground, with highly respected South Africa-born referee, now with the UAE Rugby Federation (UAERF), Jaco De Wit, officiating as the Match Referee for this event.

The winners of this event will secure an Asia Rugby Top 4 berth alongside the UAE, South Korea, and Hong Kong.

A respected and consistent figure in Asian Rugby officiating, De Wit brings a wealth of experience to the pitch. Known for his sharp decision-making and calm control under pressure, he has officiated numerous high-stakes matches across the region. His familiarity with both teams and knowledge of the game at this level make him a fitting choice to referee this crucial playoff. He has also officiated World Cup Sevens encounters in his career. De Wit also officiated last year’s Bradby Shield Encounter between Trinity and Royal.

Meanwhile, J.P. Clement (UAERF) and J. Aymen (South African Rugby Federation) will officiate as the two Assistant Referees for this vital encounter.
