The Pin Fernando Trophy recognized as a Board event has been sponsored continuously by United Tractor & Equipment Ltd., and in 2023 its subsidiary UTECH Technologies Ltd.
The feature Match-play tournament for members conducted since 1979 as part of the Centenary celebrations of the Royal Colombo Golf Club in recognition of the undisputed champion of match-play, the Late Pin Fernando who annexed the RCGC Club Championship 19 times, which is still to be overturned and winner of the Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship and the All-India Amateur on two occasions.
The exciting Pin Fernando Trophy attracts over 100 entries annually and the Qualifying round will be played on Saturday, 21 October 2023. The top 16 best net scores will qualify for the Match-play segment from Monday 23 October and the Finals will be played on Thursday 26 October 2023 at the RCGC.
The Pam Fernando Trophy tournament was introduced in 2014 and played on similar lines with the top 8 qualifiers playing match-play knock-out basis from the Quarter-final stage.
The 2022 tournament maintained the high-level of interest and match-play excitement as usual and Vinuda Weerasinghe won the Pin Fernando Trophy whilst Y.J. Choi clinched the Pam Fernando Trophy.
