The Golf Ranking Championship at the picturesque Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) in Rajawella saw a thrilling turn of events on its day 2 as Uchitha Ranasinghe, a world-ranked amateur, showed his power with a remarkable even-par round, putting himself to a joint lead with a total score of 146. Vijitha Bandara held on to his lead at top position with Uchitha.

Uchitha’s top performance brought him on square one with seasoned professional Vijitha Bandara, trailing only by a single shot. 

The competition heated up as the leader board witnessed a shuffle, with Haroon Aslam on vacation from his USA University sliding down to 3rd place at 148 and Chalitha Pushpika securing the 4th spot with a score of 149.

Yannik Kumara, a strong contender, faced setbacks, dropping to the 5th position with a total score of 152 but he is likely to bounce back in the last two days in the Central Region.

With two more days remaining in this exhilarating four-day tournament, the stage is set for an intense battle among the golfing elite. 

Day 3 will take place today at Victoria Golf Resort in Rajawella.
