Udula Wijesinghe wins Royal Colombo Golf Club Captains Cup

Former Rajans and top-class Golfer from Central Region, Air Commodore Udula Wijesinghe was in top form emerging Overall Nett Winner of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) Captains Cup 2021 which took place at their club course in Colombo recently.

This was one of the few occasions a Military Personal wining the Captains Cup in the recent past showing great interest and promotion of the game given by Sri Lanka Air Force headed by Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana.

Udula won the Overall Nett event of the Captain’s Cup 2021 scoring the Best Aggregate Nett Score over the two rounds. Captain Cup is being played since 1898 without a break except for the War years between 1942 to 1947. The winner was arrived with an aggregate of best two nett scores from two rounds using actual round handicaps.

Udula who was in top form both days had a total of 133 points with Suhayb Sangani coming in as runner-up with 139 points. Captain of RCGC, Jehaan Ismail gave away the awards. More than 230 golfers teed off in this colourful board event.

Veteran Banker Jehaan Ismail who is the current Captain of RCGC will end his term later this month when the Clubs Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is scheduled to take place on 29 March will appoint a new Captain.
