Air vice Marshal Udula Wijesinghe performed the excellence in his golfing prowess in the South West Monsoon Meet 2023, hosted at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) recently by winning the Calcutta Medal. 

In recognition of his outstanding skills on the green, Wijesinghe was conferred with the Calcutta Medal, during the tournament. A total of 144 enthusiastic golfers, hailing from both local and foreign origins, actively participated in this highly competitive tournament. 

The history of the Calcutta Medal dates back to 1888 when the Colombo Golf Club was just nine years old. It was originally presented by the Calcutta Golf Club. The first Calcutta Medal competition took place that year when the Colombo Golf Club was situated at its original location on Galle Face Green. - (SJ)
