Sri Lanka’s Under-19 World Cup captain Dunith Wellalage has been included in Sri Lanka’s 21-member squad to face Australia in a five-match One-Day International series commencing at Pallekele on 14 June.

All-rounder Wellalage has been a steady performer since the U19 World Cup in domestic cricket as well as against representative sides and his inclusion puts him in line for a Sri Lankan cap. Also in line for a debut is 28-year-old right-arm seamer Pramod Madushan.

The squad also sees the return of Danushka Gunathilaka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Niroshan Dickwella all of whom will bolster the batting unit that also includes Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Dinesh Chandimal and skipper Dasun Shanaka.

Sri Lanka’s leading T20I leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga also returns and forms the spin contingent with Maheesh Theekshana, Ramesh Mendis, Jeffrey Vandersay and Praveen Jayawickrama.

All-rounder Lahiru Madushanka and fast bowler Asitha Fernando are also recalled forming a pace combination with Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Thushara and Chamika Karunaratne.

There are no places for fast-bowling trio Nuwan Pradeep, Chamika Gunasekera and Shiran Fernando, wicketkeeper-batsman Minod Bhanuka and spin-bowling all-rounder Kamindu Mendis.
