Led by Induruwage Galapitage, Katugastota Antonians ended as the Under 13 schools cricket runner-up when they went down to Royal College, Colombo in the final which was played in Kurunegala. The rain affected encounter saw only the Colombo school batting the 78 overs and the game ending early due to rain. A good question for the organisers to give a better fair play for both sides in order for to give the young lads to play some positive cricket. For example restrict the first innings for 50 overs both sides which was on offer in earlier tournaments.
Antonians beat Wickramasheela, Giriulla and won on first innings in the rest of their matches against Vidyartha and Ashoka, Colombo and bonus points win against Thurstan, Joes and Prince of Wales on their way to the finals. The unbeaten Antonians were well supported by their skipper, Induwara (300) with one century against Ashoka Colombo and taking 12 wickets as well. Mohamed Shahad (367), Mohamed Kaiff (349) and Abu Abdulla (283) cracked with the bat.
In the bowling Charuka Ekanayake (24), Mohamed Akeel (21) and Heshan Bandara took the honours. Dimuthu Weerasinghe who is the Coach of the outfit played for Trinity (1990-92) and played junior cricket for the Antonians. He is a level 2 in Brisbane, Australia.
Nipuna Ratnayake, Mihran Madawa plus their junior coaching staff along with their MIC Lalith Kumara and Sports Coordinator, Niranjan Wijeratne.
