VGCR stamp their class

Victoria Golf and Country resort stamped their class when they won both Ladies and Gents events at the second Victoria Gregory Golf Derby which took place at the beautiful Victoria Golf and Country Resort (VGCR) at Rajawella recently.

This is the second win for the VGCR after claiming the trophy in the inaugural year as well. VGCR won both Ladies and Gents events. The Kandy outfit was led by Thusitha Wijesinghe while Priyanga Hapugalla led the Nuwara Eliya Gold Club (NEGC). There were 30 players per team in the men’s segment which was won by the VGCR 12-3.

The Ladies event was known as Victoria Gregory Ladies’ Golf Derby which saw seasoned player Ahalya Rajan leading the Kandy outfit while Usha De Silva led the NEGC. There were 10 players from each outfit and it was a close affair where the Kandy outfit won 3-2.

The award ceremony was held along with a cocktail party for the players and officials. The event was organised by the General Manager of VGCR Asela Wavita.
