VGR prepares for Donald Steel Golf Trophy 2024

The much-awaited Donald Steel Golf 2024 is back and set to tee off on 24 February promising an exhilarating display of skill and sportsmanship amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) at Rajawella. 

Already, more than 100 golfers have registered; in the coming days, more numbers are expected for this board event at VGR.  

Renowned for its challenging yet picturesque course, the Donald Steel Golf Trophy is synonymous with excellence and camaraderie. Participants can look forward to a day filled with strategic play and friendly competition, all against a stunning backdrop of Southeast Asia’s most scenic golf courses. Following the excitement of the Donald Steel Golf Trophy, which is for members only, golfing will continue with the Bostock Pots and Texas Scramble Tournament on 25 February offering golfers another opportunity to showcase their skills and vie for victory. Day 2 will be open to non-members as well. 

Donald Steel Golf had its commencement in 1999, with the initial year Chamath Kulasinghe winning the trophy. The home lad, young Kumar Dhanushan will defend his title, which he has been safekeeping since 2022 onwards. The defending lady champion is Anouk Chitty who won the Pam Fernando Trophy in 2023.
