Victoria Golf Resort Monthly Medal: Derrick Ponnambalam shines

Derrick Ponnambalam emerged as the Overall Winner at the picturesque greens of Digana at the Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) Monthly Medal which took place at their golf course in Rajawella recently. 

Amidst the serene backdrop of the golf course, Derrick Ponnambalam emerged as the overall winner, showcasing his prowess on the fairways.

In the fiercely contested Gross segment, it was Viran Perera who clinched the top spot. Following closely as the Gross runner-up was Air Marshal Udula Wijesinghe, who displayed remarkable golfing skills to secure his position.

In the ladies’ Gross segment, Melanie Bond came out on top as the Gross Winner, displaying both precision and finesse. The runner-up in this category was Pauline Morely.

The women’s division witnessed intense competition, and these two players demonstrated extraordinary talent on the course. 

The Net Winners in the Gents’ segment were equally impressive. Dinesh Karunarathne showcased remarkable golfing ability to claim the Net Winner title, while Fazal Hameed’s skills earned him the well-deserved position of Net runner-up. These gentlemen truly stood out among the competitors in their segment.

For the ladies, Manori Jayakodi’s exceptional performance earned her the title of Net Winner, further solidifying her place among the top golfers. Linda Harris, who displayed immense talent on the course, secured the Net runner-up position in the ladies’ category.

Fifteen-year-old school girl from Good Shepherd Convent Kandy, Anumi Karunathilake was in sparkling form and top class power in her long-range drives when she won the Nearest to the PIN and Longest Drive. The youngster also displayed exceptional accuracy in her shots claiming the double showing a lot of promise for the future.
