Vinoth Kumar leads the pack at Golf Ranking Tournament

Sri Lanka Golf Union conducted its first SLGU Ranking Tournament to select the National Squad and Development Squad at the Royal Colombo Golf Course from 27 – 31 December 2021 over four rounds. Sixty-four golfers teed

off with 40 making the cut after two rounds. A feature of this tournament was the participation of six professionals who played alongside the Amateurs to strengthen the competition.

Vinoth Kumar (N’Eliya Golf Club) returned the best aggregate score for the Amateurs with 296 (12 over) followed by Uchitha Akash (Royal Colombo Golf Club) with 297 (13 over), and Haroon Aslam (Victoria Golf and Country Resort) with 298 (14 over)

Mithun Perera with 273 (11 under), N. Thangaraja with 274 (10 under), and K. Prabakaran with 285 (1 over) led the pros. A feature of the final days’ play was the hole-in-one scored by Mithun Perera (Sri Lanka Golf Legend Late Nandasena Perera’s son) at the 13th hole.

Sri Lanka Golf Vice President Ranil Peiris and Secretary Lal Wickrematunge gave away the awards.
