Vishwa Fernando is congratulated by team mates after taking a Pakistan ‘A’ wicket
Sri Lanka’s Test left-arm fast bowler Vishwa Fernando took four wickets for 44 in 19 overs to dismiss Pakistan ‘A’ for 258 on the second day of the first 4-day unofficial test played at Rawalpindi yesterday.
Fernando was assisted by fellow seamers Isitha Wijesundara (2/49) and Nisala Tharaka (2/57).
Pakistan ‘A’s innings was constructed on fifties from Ali Zaryab (55), Husain Talat (56) and Rohail Nazir (55).
Sri Lanka ‘A’ who were dismissed for 115 in their first innings replied with 77-1 in the second innings, still trailing Pakistan ‘A’ by 66 runs with two days of play left.
They lost Oshada Fernando for a duck, but Nipun Dananjaya (23*) and Ahan Wickramasinghe (48*) have so far figured in a half-century partnership to lift the morale of the side.
