Wesley College will have a great chance to regain the L.E. Blaze Trophy when they take on traditional rivals Kingswood College in their 35th annual Inter-Schools Rugby encounter at the CR and FC Grounds in Longden Place on Friday.
The Wesleyites are fresh after having completed a successful ‘A’ Division League Tournament where they finished in fourth place of the Segment ‘A’ Super Round with a total of 22 points.
However, Wesley’s total points were reduced to 19 later as three points were deducted from their 17-17 drawn encounter against St. Peter’s, whose results were considered null and void by the Ministry of Education.
With St. Peter’s moving to the last place in the points table after all their matches were considered null and void, Kingswood College had the chance to secure the 11th place in the ‘A’ Division points table.
This year of course, Wesley will start favourites to regain the Blaze Trophy considering their performances this season where they recorded victories against Vidyartha (38-7), Science College (38-10) and Dharmaraja (31-12) before playing out a 17-17 draw against St. Peter’s.
In contrast, Kingswood failed to obtain any points this season as they lost all five matches of the League Tournament.
