The inaugural cricket encounter between St. Benedict’s College and Wesley College for the Rev. James Cartman Cup ended in a draw at Kotahena yesterday.
Wesley took the honours in the match scoring 228/9 declared in their first innings and dismissing the Bens for 139. With a first innings lead of 89, Wesley declared their second innings closed at 90/5, leaving the Bens the task of chasing an improbable 180 for victory. The Bens closed on 47/1 in 15 overs to draw the contest.
As no team emerged victorious outright, the Cartman Cup was not awarded to either side.
Malinda Perera, the Benedictine slow left-arm orthodox spinner was named the Man of the Match for his first innings performance of 6/66.
