Sanath Jayasuriya |

Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has appointed a Technical Consultative Committee for Sri Lanka Cricket with former Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya as the chairman.
Other members of the five-man committee are former Sri Lanka cricketers Farveez Maharoof, Kapila Wijegunawardene, Charith Senanayake and Ashantha de Mel. The appointment of the committee has been gazetted by the Sports Ministry. Over the past 3-4 years when Namal Rajapaksa was the Sports Minister there have been several committees appointed. All the pundits have been put into the fray and they have messed up beyond comprehension. What can this committee bring to the table what other past committees have failed to do?
It will be interesting to know what the mandate of this committee is because there are several other committees also floating around. From a layman’s point of view there are enough cooks in the kitchen who are definitely going to make the broth less palatable.
From a cricketing perspective the need of the hour is not committees but to pick the right eleven to play and to fit the players into the correct format.
