Zahira College holds tennis academy felicitation

The Zahira College Tennis Academy held its felicitation ceremony at the college’s swimming pool auditorium under the patronage of Principal Trizviiy Marikkar recently.

The Chief Guest at the ceremony was Fauzul Hameed, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Zahira College.

The special guests present included H.M.M. Rizwan - Director, Cawens Enterprises; Mr. Faiz - Chairman, Sports Committee, Zahira College and Ganendran Subramaniam - Head Coach, GS Tennis Academy, Colombo. The welcome speech was delivered by Principal Marikkar.

Head Coach Subramaniam, addressing the gathering, emphasised the importance of tennis as a sport for children.

Hameed told the audience that tennis was a tough and expensive sport but was good for students’ future if they could take it seriously.

Certificates to players who excelled in tennis in the last few years were distributed by Hameed, Principal Marikkar and Prefect of Games Muhiseen Ariff.

Sports bags were also distributed to all players at the academy by sponsor H. M. M. Rizwan - Director, Cawens Enterprises; Abdul Jabbar - Manager, Cawens Enterprises;  Hameed, Principal Marikkar; Ganendran Subramaniam - Head Coach; Mr. Faiz - Chairman, Sports Committee;  Ariff - Prefect of Games and Fazli Lahir – Chairman, Tennis Committee of  Zahira College. The tennis academy handed over a token of appreciation to director Rizwan.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prefect of Games Ariff.
