Abans, Hero sponsor Sri Lanka Navy Rugby for 2013/14 season

Abans, one of Sri Lanka’s leading conglomerates diversified in to various fields of business and services, together with Hero MotoCorp, India’s premier motorcycle manufacturer, have come forward to generously sponsor the Sri Lanka Navy Rugby Team for the 2013/2014 rugby season. Inspired by the strong and dedicated naval rugby squad, Abans and Hero are proud to be associated with such a vibrant, fighting outfit, and decided to promote the team with a magnanimous sponsorship package. Abans is the sole agent for Hero in Sri Lanka and both companies are significantly committed to encouraging and promoting sports activities amongst youth. Hockey is India’s national sport and Hero has always been committed to doing its part to promote and popularise the sport. Hero began its association with the game of golf in 2005 by sponsoring the prestigious Indian Open Golf Tournament which has helped to greatly enhance the popularity of the sport in India. Hero’s association with cricket goes a long way. Hero has been actively involved with the Indian Premier League and has also been associated with major cricket tournaments organised by the International Cricket Council, including the Cricket World Cup and Champions Trophy. Abans has always been in the forefront of national sporting events in Sri Lanka and also major international sporting events held in Sri Lanka. One of the major annual events that Abans sponsor is the Guwan Hamuda Cycle Race organised by the Sri Lanka Air Force which is held during the Sinhala/Tamil New Year season. In particular, Abans have concentrated their efforts in sponsoring sporting events in rural areas promoting youth activities to encourage our youth to indulge in meaningful recreational activities instead of being lured astray. Abans have always come forward to provide meaningful recreational activities for young people in urban as well as rural areas. The sponsorship package was presented to the Sri Lanka Navy Director Sports and Chairman Rugby Commodore J.D. Amaranayaka, Lt. Yoshitha Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka Navy Rugby Secretary Lt. A.W.R.C. Lakshman by Abans Deputy Director Channa Pathirana and Abans Hero Brand Manager Tijith Ratnayake.
