ACC Women’s T20: Mithali, Siriwardena lead from the front

India and Sri Lanka registered wins on the second day of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup at the Guanggong International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.



India beat Thailand by 77 runs and Sri Lanka beat Nepal by 20 runs. India skipper Mithali Raj top-scored with 28 in her team’s total of 109-4 in 20 overs.

In its reply Thailand was bowled out for 32 in 193. overs. Ekta Bisht (2-7), Roshanara Parwin (2-8), Niranjana Nagrajan (2-9), Reema Malhotra (2-1) and Mona Meshram (2-1) shared the wickets around.

Mithali Raj was named the player of the match.

In the other match, Sri Lanka posted 78 for eight in its 20 overs. Skipper Shashikala Siriwardena (23) was the top-scorer for Sri Lanka.

Rubina Chhetry (4-7) and Sonu Khadka (2-19) were the key wicket-takers for Nepal.

Nepal never got going in its chase and was restricted to 58 for nine in its 20 overs.

Siriwardena claimed 2-8 and Sandamali Dolawatte (2-8) were the key wicket-takers for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka captain Siriwardena was named the player of the match.
